| Safety and Security Reminders |
Dear Parents,
As many of you are aware, there was an incident at the Garden State Plaza last night.
In light of this, we wanted to remind you about our safety and security guidelines at BPY and ask for your cooperation, especially in the following three areas: - Visitors (including parents) should use the intercom at the main entrance and wait to be buzzed in. Upon entrance, all visitors must report directly to the main office to sign in and receive a guest pass.Please be sure that the door is securely closed behind you and do not let anyone you do not recognize into the building.
- Students arriving late or being picked up early must be signed in or out in the office by a parent or designated guardian before going to the classroom. The student will be issued an early or late pass which must be taken to the classroom. Teachers are not permitted to accept or release children without this slip.
- If you see something, say something. As we have instructed our staff, if you observe anything or anyone suspicious around the school grounds at any time please report it to the main office who will contact the police.
In addition, below are some of the ongoing security measures that are in place at BPY: - Security cameras are located at each entrance to the building. There are also cameras throughout the building and exterior areas which are monitored as well.
- All doors remain locked at all times, with the exception of 15 minutes at arrival and dismissal when the main entrance is open and is monitored by staff members.
- Ben Porat Yosef conducts monthly lockdown drills, which have been supervised by an officer from a local police precinct.
- School-wide security guidelines and safety procedures have been developed and implemented based on on-site assessments and input from both the Bergen County Special Prosecutor's Office and the Paramus Police Department.
We take security very seriously at BPY. It is our job to be proactive in making sure your children and our staff are completely safe at school. As part of today's teacher-in-service day, all of our staff reviewed our lockdown procedures which were developed with the guidance of local law enforcement officials. | Reminder: Parent Teacher Conference Scheduling Opens Tomorrow at 7:00 am

Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Sunday, November 17th beginning at 9:00 am. The scheduling of time slots is done through an on-line system, PTC Wizard, that can be accessed by clicking here.
Online registration for Parent Teacher Conferences will open tomorrow morning, Wednesday, November 6th at 7:00 am. Registration for conferences will close on Wednesday, November 13th at 11:59 pm.
Please sign-up as early as possible so you can get your first choice of times.
A few helpful notes:
*Please register on the right hand side in order to access the conference booking. Parents that used the system previously do not need to re-register. However, if you forgot your username and password you can re-register.
*Once logged in, please select all the teachers and groups you would like to see at conferences. The site will then open each class one by one to book your conference times. *Once completed the screen will show a summary of your conferences and it will be emailed to you. If you need to change or cancel an appointment please log back onto the site. Once in, click on "My Schedule" (a tab on the left hand side) where you can select which conference you would like to cancel. Please notify your child's teacher if you cannot attend an appointment on the above date so that they can make alternate arrangements for you.
