Our BPY Chesed Bucks Walkathon campaign is off to a great start and is the perfect way to involve your children in raising funds for BPY's scholarship fund. An anonymous donor has promised to donate $25 for each chesed activity your children participate in (up to $10,000 total). These donations will be posted on your Firstgiving page (so please put your page up now if you haven't already). There is a max of $100 in BPY Chesed Bucks per family. Simply snap a picture of the chesed activity (your children do not need to be in the picture), post it on BPY's Facebook page with a caption describing the activity and the hashtag #BPYWalkathon2014. To see photos that others have posted just enter #BPYWalkathon2014 in your Facebook search window. If you are not on Facebook, you can email your captioned photos to bpywalkathon@gmail.com and we will post them on BPY's Facebook page on your behalf. If you have not done so already, please click here to put up your page. Help us reach our communal goal of more than 75 pages up by tomorrow and Friday will be BPY Spirit Day - students can come to school in BPY gear or dressed in BPY colors. Scholastic Book Fair Closing Tomorrow, Thursday, 5/14
Our Scholastic Book Fair is coming to a close. The grades had a chance to browse the shelves and find a favorite or something new (or both). The merchandise seems to be flying off the shelves!
Thursday morning is the last chance to come in and make purchases before 1:00 pm. After this time, the items will be packed up and returned to Scholastic.
Thank you to all the mothers who helped Susan Levin (School Librarian) run the book fair, to the teachers who guided their students with book selections and to all the parents who recognize the value of books and how empowering it is for children to learn to make choices.
We wish you hours of happy reading! |
Memo to Parents of Grades 4-8: Celebrate Israel Parade Permission Slip Due ASAP
We are eagerly anticipating our school's participation in the annual Celebrate Celebrate Israel Parade which will take place on Sunday, June 1st, 2014. Your children will proudly represent Ben Porat Yosef as they march up the parade route on Fifth Avenue. (Please note that it is mandatory for students in Grades 4-8 to march.)
As we are all aware, this event marks the single most significant communal demonstration of support for Israel throughout the year. Sadly, considering the world-wide negative climate towards Israel, as well as in some government offices here at home, our personal and communal support for Israel is more important than ever.
We therefore urge each of you to make every effort to ensure that your child/ren participate in this event. As it is essential that we have a well-represented contingent, we also ask that our parents join us on the parade route.
We look forward to marching with you! Rav Tomer Ronen Stanley Fischman Rosh HaYeshiva Director of General Studies Please click here for the 4th - 8th Grade Permission Slip. |
