Terra Nova Achievement Examinations - Grades 3 - 7 This letter is to inform you that we will be administering the Terra Nova achievement examination during the week of May 12th (students in Grade 5 will take their exams on May 5, 8, 9, 12, 13.) The purpose of this examination process is to asses the progress of our students in reading, writing, mathematics and to determine the effectiveness of our instructional program. Please note that this process should not be a cause for anxiety or alarm for the students or their parents. Please avoid questioning your child about his/her performance as this might also cause undue anxiety. The classroom teachers will familiarize the students with the exam's format and components. No home preparation for the examination is required. The exam itself will be spread over several days and will require only one period per day. There will be a lighter homework load in both Judaic and general studies during the course of the week. When the results are tabulated we will inform the parents and we will be happy to share them with you. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call. |
Last Call!! 2014 Spring Report Cards & Anecdotals Parents of Students in Grades 1-8, Please see below for a reminder about our 2014 Spring Report Cards & Anecdotals. This is the last call to make your choice. Thank you! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear BPY Parents, Here at BPY we are gearing up for Pesach and finally Spring! Our hallways and classrooms are blooming with beautiful projects and the sounds of the upcoming Chag Ha'Aviv. Before we know it, the end of another school year will be upon us, which of course brings with it your child(ren)'s anecdotal report card. As you know, our Judaic Studies staff comprised of Israeli shlichim is one of the hallmarks of BPY. Our Judaic Studies teachers express themselves best in their native language of Hebrew and when composing your child's anecdotal report card in English, they need to do so through a third party and a process of translation. Therefore, we would now like to offer you the option of receiving your report cards in your child's teacher's original Hebrew, for you to be able to read the teacher's narrative comments in his or her own words. Nevertheless, if you would like to continue to receive your child's Judaic Studies anecdotal report card in English, as you have until now, we are happy to continue to provide you with an English version. Please click here to let us know your preference for the upcoming Spring 2014 term. Thank you, HaRav Tomer Ronen |

Reminder: Parent & Visitor Dress Code With the arrival of the warm weather, please be reminded of our school dress code for parents and visitors: As seen on page 23 in the 2013-2014 Parent Handbook: "In order to send a consistent message to our children, we ask that all parents dress according to our dress code when dropping off and picking up their children and when joining us for events, meetings, trips, and special activities at school or planned by the school." Therefore we ask that men wear kippot or another type of head covering, and that women wear knee length skirts and tops with sleeves and modest neckline. Thank you for your cooperation. |
